Lake Tekapo is the second largest of three lakes in the Mackenzie basin. The lake is fed from water that runs off the Southern Alps. As with many of the lakes on the South Island, Lake Tekapo has a hydro-electric power station that generates 185MW of power.
This is the image that almost never was, as I started shooting this image I noticed that my SD card was full. It was almost time to drive back home so I just thought rather than walk back to the car to get another card I would let this one pass. Thanks to my hosts who encouraged me to get the card I ended up getting one of my favourite images of the day.
